Oasis Mental Health is proud to be a sponsor the Annapolis Film Festival, March 22 – 25. The Oasis-sponsored film “Mary Goes Round,” directed by Molly McGlynn, will have its Mid-Atlantic premiere in Annapolis. It will be shown at noon, Saturday, March 24, at St. John’s College, and at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts – Bowen Theater.
We caught up with Oasis owner Kathy Miller, a supporter of the AFF from the start, to see why she chose this film, a “dramedy” (equal parts comedy and drama) about a substance abuse counselor who has a drinking problem. Behind the laughs, the film has some serious messages, Kathy said:
“It is an entertaining film that touches on how alcoholism affects families. It also brings to the forefront the fact it can be multigenerational. The film also shows that treatment in the form of groups can be effective for people when they are ready to seriously treat their illness.”
