One of Oasis’ newest therapists is Gina Pennington. Gina is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who obtained her Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Georgia. Gina has over fifteen years’ experience in the mental health field providing counseling services to adolescents and adults alike in a wide variety of contexts. For example, Gina has begun treating young children this year using play therapy techniques. Gina specializes in treating individuals to cope with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and low self-esteem.
With a compassionate, down to earth, and practical approach, Gina helps patients develop coping skills through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and acceptance strategies. Her goal is for you to have a safe place to share your concerns while also learning coping strategies to use outside of therapy.
Vivian started her nursing career in 2000, continuing her studies in nursing, completing advanced degrees in Nursing Leadership and Management, as well as in Family Psychiatry and Mental Health. Vivian is a Board-Certified Family Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner and is licensed in Maryland and Washington D.C. Her previous experience includes work in hospice care, medical surgery, community health, in-patient hospital, out-patient clinics, pediatrics, as well as mental health settings.
At Oasis, Vivian is involved in the entire continuum of care, qualified to diagnose and treat a wide array of mental health conditions across the entire lifespan. Vivian believes in forging relationships with people to not only understand their mental and health needs and goals, but also work collaboratively with patients to develop a plan to achieve their best possible state of health.
